We have always imagined robots as part of our future even Leonardo Da Vinci did back in 1445. Yet we have also thought of them as our downfall as well at least since 1920 when Karel Capek wrote a play about a robot apocalypse. Just a mere 12 years later Japan created one of the first toy robots to hit the market. The robot was only 15cm (6 inches) tall and made out of tin. you would wind it up and then the bot would walk. Later in 1941 the three laws of robotics were outlined. they stated that ". A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law."

Not long after the first robotic arm was created in 1954. 32 years later Honda began a project to build a walking humanoid robot. Sony then saw into the future and realized that there was a market for personal robots and made the first of a series of robot dogs (AIBO) in 1999. Three other more advanced versions of AIBO that have come out over the years
